Letter to Parents

Dear Parents,

Thank you, first of all, for choosing St. Laurence School. We can offer you Catholic Christian education and an environment that makes us unique. Yet we don’t stop there. St. Laurence sets an excellent academic foundation at all levels. Our students are praised by teachers at Laramie Junior High for their good study habits and classroom behavior. On average 90% of our graduates qualify for Hathaway Scholarships with at least a 3.0 High School grade point average.

This coming year we will continue to uphold that strong religious environment and academic excellence that you have come to expect from St. Laurence School. We will continue to meet for Morning Prayer, Thursday Liturgy, Stations of the Cross during Lent, providing music ministry at Sunday Mass, serving at funerals, and practicing our Faith daily in the classroom and the playground. All of the teachers are returning for the coming year in their current positions. This includes all of our specials teachers. We will be combining some grades again this coming year with a pre-kindergarten room, and kindergarten room, a grade 1-2 classroom, a 3-4 combination room, and grades 5-6 together. Still that gives us a ratio of about 9 students per teacher. That number means more face time with the teacher and student. That gives your child a distinct advantage over the public schools where ratios tend to be more like 18 to 1.

This coming year St. Laurence Catholic School wants to add to the excellent classroom instruction by increasing the number of field trips and outside of school learning opportunities. In addition we will be bringing guest speakers and authors to the classes to enhance learning. The school continues its transition to the Common Core Standards that will demand more rigor, more understanding, and more depth of knowledge from your children. The teachers are gearing up for the challenges in the year ahead. We want to have you onboard as we move forward in our love of God and our love of learning. Thanks again for your active participation as together we build the Kingdom right here in our little school. Please take the time to read the St. Laurence School Agreement on the next page before tackling the Registration packet.

God Bless,
Tom Wilhelm, Principal
With the Teachers and Staff of St. Laurence School
