Yippee-Kay-Yay-Ay, Git Along Little Doggie!
Grade One/Two November 3-7, 2014
Happy November! Oh my, how can our year be passing so quickly?! I hope your All Saints Day weekend was special. J
In reading/language we will read stories about cowboys. Our sound is long u with magic e at the end of the word, as in mule. We will think about the plot of a story and learn about verbs. Second graders will make a group diorama about our story, Why Cowboys Sleep with Their Boots On. This should be fun!
In math we will review doubles, doubles plus one and two, and learn about facts that make 5 and 10. These are anchor skills and are super important!
Now that we have happily celebrated the completion of our downtown Laramie unit, we will turn from social studies to science and begin an astronomy unit. Our focus will be on the stars this year as last year we learned about the planets in our solar system.
In religion we will learn about and make a mezuzah, a scripture-bearing doorpost used in Jewish homes, and think more about prayer, especially the Our Father, the prayer that Jesus taught us.
